The Hôtel de Ville is the traditional name given to the Town Hall or La Mairie, much to the confusion of any tourists looking for a place to spend the night.

This is just one of many paintings Christine did of this building, with its picturesque archway over one of the main roads in the center of town. If you notice that the buildings on the right of the picture are leaning back a little from vertical, you can be assured that’s what they do in reality. The lack of true verticals used to bother Christine when she first arrived in France, as she was taught to follow the rules of perspective.
