Kichicot was Christine’s cat. The cat was adopted from her good friend Yolande whom she stayed with before she had her own place to live – the flat in Fayence. Christine always said that the cat, or kitten at the time, adopted her. The rest of her family found this very surprising because Christine appeared to never like cats, even though all cats always liked her. However much she tried to have none of it, they always wanted to rub against her legs or sit in her lap. Kichicot got her name from Yolande and is a phonetic variant of the Polish “kotek kot” for “kitten cat”. Conversely, the actual translation of the Polish “Kichicot” into English is Quixote, a very suitable name for this cat with its quixotic nature.
