Kichicot was my mother’s cat. The cat was adopted from her good friend Yolande whom she stayed with when she didn’t have her own place to live. This was just before she moved into the flat in Fayence. My mother always said that the cat or kitten at the time, adopted her. The rest of the family found this very surprising because my mother appeared to never like cats even though all cats always liked her and despite my mother trying to have none it, they always wanted to rub against her legs or sit in her lap. Kichicot got her name from Yolande and is phonetic variant of the Polish “kotek kot” for “kitten cat” but the actual translation of the Polish “Kichicot” in English is Quixote, a very suitable name for this cat with its quixotic nature.
