The Hôtel de Ville is the traditional name given to the Town Hall or La Mairie much to the confusion of any tourists looking for a place to spend the night.
This is just one of many paintings my mother did of this building and its picturesque archway of over one of the main roads through the center of the town. If you notice the buildings on the right of the picture leaning a little back from vertical you can be assured that’s what they do in reality. The lack of true verticals used to bother my mother when she first arrived in France as she was taught to follow the rules of perspective.
