La Mairie, Fayence, was the second painting my mother turned into a professionally printed postcard. For the postcard she worked with a company in England and this was one of several she had printed. While looking through the files, I found an original monotone version in preparation for printing locally. If it was printed I don’t have any survivors. I also found what I thought was the less expensive line version of the card, but while preparing the images I could see that it was actually a different image of the same scene and with the similar cat and characters added. Similarly the larger watercolour I have copy of is yet another version as well..

Astute observers will see the building says Hôtel de Ville which is the traditional name given to the Town Hall or La Mairie leading to some confusion with tourists.
