Dancing Ledge is a well known beauty spot along the Purbeck Coast of Dorset. This watercolor was done in the early sixties, within a few years of moving back to Bournemouth where Christine had spent her childhood; it was about an hour away from our home there. The painting was entered into a number of local exhibitions and always got interesting comments due its mix of styles. One can clearly see the influence of the Japanese style of painting that she had learnt in that country. The look is further emphasized by her use of the Benson Hanko or ‘chop’ signature stamp.
