This is a small “picnic painting” of Brownsea Island which lies in the middle of Poole harbour, near Bournemouth. Evidently, this was a very windy day with photogenic clouds blowing through. This sort of picnic painting would be done in a very short time, during the hour or so after eating, while my brother and I amused ourselves.
