TOURRETTES

ART IN THE STREET: A SUCCESSFUL EXPERIENCE!

Tourettes-de-Fayence knew how to innovate on the occasion of the local festival. It is to the credit of the committee chaired by Robert Rossel to have been able to make a popular event an ideal springboard for the association of regional artists.

In terms of organization, this was no easy task since it was necessary to contact about forty artists from the canton to ask them to participate; what they moreover gladly did since it is an almost equal number of exhibitors that we registered.

The luck factor also played its role: the weather was fine, very fine even, one of those azure skies the likes of which had not been seen for a long time.

This was the first condition of success: indeed. Tourettes does not have a hall commensurate with the exhibition. We therefore choose to put the easels in the open air, transforming the alleys of the village into a gigantic gallery.

The rhythm of the visit was that of strolling, the only stops being imposed by the seduction of a canvas, the attractive splash of color or spontaneous wonder.

No door to cross either: this is perhaps the most important, some not daring to enter a world that seems unusual to them.

Between boules competitions, country balls and aioli (scheduled for tomorrow), the artists have found the niche that suits them. Among them, the Tourettants and Fayençois were keen to participate massively.

The “locals” were brilliantly represented by (among others) Pierre Longueville, Colette Marquine, Christiane Benson, Robert Dupart, Sybille, Columbus, Marconnot, Marc Brulé, etc.
