THE AIR OF THE REGION
The firefighters of our corps, under the direction of Lieutenant Funel, brought their share of dedication to the fight against the terrible forest fires which have devastated the Var region. Once again, we salute their action and their spirit of sacrifice.
More than seventy exhibitors at the craft fair took a meal together at noon on Sunday under the trees and parasols of the Place Thiers. We must thank Lily from the foyer for having lent the necessary equipment for setting up the event and our friends from “La Strega” who assisted the office of the festival committee in providing this very successful outdoor buffet.
In the breach, we saw the Nicolas household, with friend Rossel, always indefatigable and agreeable, whose smile embellished the entry of the exhibitors, solicited for logistical reasons by Ginette Nicolas in the color of hope. The youth also played their part.
The painter Rex Alliston, who exhibited his very beautiful works for the first time, was represented by lady Christine Benson who, as a perfect connoisseur, extolled the quality of Rex Alliston’s paintings.
Fayence bakers often have their hands full during the month of August and summer visitors appreciate the fine quality and imaginative shapes of Fayence bread that, may we remind you, is produced with the same skill by Messrs. Hebreard, Laugier and Canute.
A young pianist, Marielle, delighted our friends of music during the two weekend evenings at Alain Chauvet.
In the streets of Fayence, on Sunday, we came across a well-known “summer visitor” who has kept his feet on Seillanese soil; it was Mr. Bernard Gérard, former sub-prefect of Draguignan and “adoptive father” of the regional contract granted to the canton by the State.
This morning, the children from the summer camp took to the road to spend a day outdoors in Mons.
