This is a copy of a very small palette knife study done after a picnic beside the road near Bagnols-en-Forêt in Provence, while on holiday in the south of France in 1964. The original has the full story of where and when it was made. This is a copy done at a later date, I think to sell as she didn’t want to part with the original. I don’t think she was really satisfied with it as it was not signed and generally looks over worked and lacks the subtlety and spontaneity of the original.
