The Purple Alps (copy)

A small palette knife landscape painting copied from the Purple Alps painting

Media: Oil paint, palette knife on bristol board
Date: Unknown
Where: Provence, France
Signature: unsigned
Currently: In the family collection

This is a copy of the Purple Alps landscape painted while the family was on holiday in the South of France in 1964, long before she emigrated there in 1971. When you read the post about the original painting you find out why the original was called the Purple Alps. In this version the whole purple rendition has been toned down considerably. Perhaps my mother had already become skeptical about all that purple her friend Harry was seeing. Unfortunately, there is no signature and date so we don’t know when it was painted. Additionally, its a non standard size so that is not clue as to whether she used an English board or the standardized sizes found in France but I would suspect it was done in England before she finally emigrated to France in 1971.
