The working draft for La Cueillette des Figues / Picking Figs. Christine would often do a very quick sketch of a selected subject on location. Sometimes these draft pictures would be good enough to stand on their own, as in this case, but she would still make a second rendition later with a more refined composition and detail.

Fortunately, we still have a final version of the Picking Figs. I personally think the original painted in the field has a lighter and more spontaneous feel to it.
