Japanese Girl

Date: Circa 1954
Media: Pencil and Conte on rice paper
Where: Okinawa, Japan
Signature: “Tina” in Japanese
Currently: Family collection

A pencil and conte crayon sketch of a Japanese girl. Probably one of the children of ours servants while we lived in Okinawa, Japan from1953 to 1955. The Japanese characters on the drawing translate to “Tina” which was nickname my mother was using at the time.

Unfortunately the rice paper this was created on is showing it’s 70 years of age and trip from half way round the world.
