Dancing Ledge is a well known beauty spot along the Purbeck Coast of Dorset, about an hour away from Christine and her children’s home in Bournemouth. This watercolor was done in the early sixties, within a few years of moving back to Bournemouth where she had spent her childhood. It was entered into a number of local exhibitions and always got interesting comments due its mix of styles. One can clearly see the influence of the Japanese style of painting that Christine had learnt in that country. The look is further emphasized by her use of the Benson Hanko or ‘chop’ signature stamp.
